Republicans shift anti-Hillary tactics from squirrel suit to 'hiding'

Hillary Clinton presents an autographed copy of her book to the Republican-promoted 'HRC squirrel'
Maybe they lost the squirrel suit and that's why they had to change message?
Hillary Clinton has not said that she is running for president. Going along with that, she's not campaigning for president. It's not that complicated a concept, but Republicans seem to be having trouble with it. They're launching a "Hillary's hiding" campaign. Seriously:
“What’s the only way not to seem like she’s campaigning?” asks RNC communications director Sean Spicer in the planned campaign kick-off memo. “Go into hiding.”

The memo notes that Clinton has not held a press conference in over 200 days, and has not been to either Iowa or New Hampshire since November’s midterms. It also details 28 times Clinton’s camp has declined to comment on the record for press stories since May.

OMG, she's not holding press conferences, staging coy visits to early primary states, or commenting every time the media calls her. What else could it be but that she's hiding not currently a candidate? Wouldn't you love to have been a fly on the wall of the meeting where they came up with this? "Okay, she's not actually a candidate yet. We're already attacking her for everything we can think of, and it's not working. What next?""Dude! Let's pretend she is campaigning and go from there."

Then again, "Hillary's hiding" represents a modest step up in seriousness from last summer's stunt campaign of sending a guy in a squirrel suit to follow Clinton around.
