The Republican National Committee voted unanimously Friday to reaffirm the party’s commitment to upholding the definition of marriage as between one man and one woman, upending party efforts to grow support among younger voters.That would be the Dave Agema who posted an anti-gay screed so vicious that he faced calls to resign over it not all that long ago, and was back in the news in the last few days for comparing homosexuality to alcoholism, among many other things. A second resolution reaffirming “core values” of the party — including opposition to same-sex marriage — was also passed.
To make it clear, there's an outright war between the older social conservatives and the younger, more libertarian conservatives that the party needs in order to retain any future relevance. Unfortunately for the younger crowd, they're going to be rapidly learning that they don't call the shots.
